With a provincial nomination you're effectively at the top of the pool — an invitation is very likely.
Competitive for general Express Entry draws (recent cut-offs around 510).
Below general cut-offs, but category-based draws (French, healthcare, STEM, trades) and a provincial nomination clear far lower.
Below current cut-offs. The realistic levers: a provincial nomination, stronger language, more experience, or a French / category-based draw.
How this is calculated
Canada — Express Entry (CRS). We apply IRCC's Comprehensive Ranking System grid: core human capital (age, education, language, Canadian experience), spouse factors, skill-transferability combinations, and additional points. Language is assumed equal across all four abilities. A valid job offer no longer adds any CRS points — those were removed on 25 March 2025. There is no fixed pass mark; recent general draws cut off around 510, French and category-based draws lower, and a provincial nomination (+600) is effectively decisive.
Australia — General Skilled Migration. We apply the Department of Home Affairs points test for subclasses 189/190/491. The pass mark is 65 to enter the pool, but invitations are competitive — recent subclass 189 rounds invited from 65 up to 100 depending on occupation. Combined Australian and overseas work experience is capped at 20 points.
New Zealand — Skilled Migrant Category. A 6-point system: you claim 3–6 points from your single strongest credential (a recognised qualification, income above set multiples of the median wage, or an occupational registration) and add up to 3 points for skilled work in New Zealand. Reach 6 points and meet the basics — aged 55 or under, a job with an accredited employer, and English — and you can apply directly, with no ranked draw. New Zealand updates this system on 24 August 2026, so re-check the bands after that date.
Austria — Red-White-Red Card. We score the Very Highly Qualified Workers route: 70 of 100 points across qualifications, salary, work experience, language, age and Austrian study. Reaching 70 lets you enter for six months to find work, with no prior job offer. Other Red-White-Red routes exist for shortage occupations, key workers and start-up founders, each with its own threshold.
